A Shepherd’s Touch: Archbishop Banda Brings Hope to Katondwe Hospital

In a moment that stirred hearts and brought comfort to the sick, Archbishop Alick Banda on Sunday made a compassionate stop at Katondwe Mission Hospital during his pastoral visitation to Holy Spirit Parish. The visit came just two days after a tragic road accident at Luangwa Bridge market, which claimed lives and left several others injured.
With a heart full of empathy, the Archbishop took time to visit the survivors admitted to the hospital, offering prayers and words of encouragement. His presence brought a wave of consolation to both patients and medical staff alike.
Archbishop Banda also toured the hospital’s newly refurbished maternity and neonatal wards, as well as the Radiology Department, now equipped with modern ultrasound and X-ray machines. The advancement is a major leap forward in diagnostic services. However, the hospital administration appealed for additional support, particularly the acquisition of a Computed Tomography (CT) scan to complement the growing needs of the department.
Run by the devoted Little Servants of Mary Immaculate Sisters, Katondwe Hospital is a grant-aided institution under the Archdiocese of Lusaka and remains the largest health facility in Luangwa District.
In a gesture of spiritual care, the Archbishop celebrated Holy Mass in the hospital chapel, lifting hearts with a message of faith, healing, and resilience. His presence was more than pastoral—it was profoundly human.
